If I wanted to trademark a word and have it hold it's weight internationally, is this a long expensive process?

I trademarked Dirty Deeds Junk Removal and Git-R-Dumpt. Each cost me about $275 if I remember correctly. However it took 6 weeks for them to approve it. I also had a couple others phrases i tried to get trademarked that were denied. It costs you the same amount even when they deny you a trademark.
