I found a great new site that does business planning through my Twitter network -- the site is enloop.com You can create a business plan for free (FREE!) and it will give you a score that lets you know how good or bad your plan is.

Christopher Conner - President at Franchise Marketing Systems

SCORE has a lot of really good templates for business plans. I've used them before.

Hi Kevin, I haven't used an online business plan template in many years. But, I agree with Bob that Microsoft template is the way to go especially if you're looking for something free. It has the basic guts - you'll need to modify any business plan template to fit your business needs. But, what I do know is that free is a good when you're first starting out. Good luck!

A solid business plan is of vital importance for a company looking to start off, and continue to run, successfully. Utilizing proven software is one approach many business owners take, and is an approach I agree with. BizFilings has partnered with Palo Alto, and provides their Business Plan Pro software at a reduced rate.

didn't use any templates, although i have used the Microsoft business plan wizard in the past. it provides a good outline of what is needed in a plan and it's free.
