What is Diversity Training?
Diversity Training typically is defined as programs designed to achieve positive workplace interactions, reduce discrimination and prejudice and basically show people how to properly treat and effectively work with those who are different from them. It provides cultural and gender issue awareness intended to attract and retain employees and customers, maintain morale, improve understanding among employees and reduce conflict.
However, researchers from Tel Aviv University and Harvard University have been exploring whether such training programs are, not just ineffective, but often counter-productive to improving diversity. One study found that five years after introducing such training, companies saw declines in the number of women and minorities.
