Small Business Glossary and Definitions

What is a Probationary Arrangement?

A Probationary Arrangement is a set period of time where a new employee is subject to extra scrutiny or monitoring in order for the company to understand whether or not the employee is going to be able to perform the job and fit into the company. Probationary arrangements refer to both the length of time and the nature of observations or the consequences of a negative probationary performance. A common probation period is 90 days from hire.
